Welcome to this resource which preserves material from the Interdisciplinary Workshop on Recreative Practices in the Arts and Humanities held at De Montfort University on 15 and 16 June 2022. The university has a rich tradition of research in recreative practices across the arts and humanities with particular interests in dress history, photographic history and writing technologies and this was an opportunity to strengthen that interest by offering a much-needed forum for cross-disciplinary dialogue.
Through this site you will be able to access PDFs or video recordings of the papers presented, speaker biographies and other resources. Please be careful to cite this website should you use any of the material in future teaching, lectures or publications.
This workshop was supported by the School of Fashion and Textiles and the Photographic History Research Centre (PHRC) in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities at De Montfort University. Its organisation was led by DMU’s Dr. Elizabeth Lambourn, Professor of Material Histories, with the Design Cultures team – Dr Serena Dyer, Lecturer in History of Design & Material Culture, Dr. Richard Hudson-Miles, Lecturer in Design Cultures, Dr Melanie Petch, Senior Lecturer in Design Cultures, and Ruth Jindal, Senior Lecturer in Design Cultures – together with Dr Kelley Wilder, Professor of Photographic History and Director of the PHRC and Dr. Sara Dominici, Senior Lecturer, University of Westminster and Visiting Fellow PHRC (2022-23).
The tour of Art and Design Facilities was organised by Rachel Neal (PhD candidate at DMU) and led by Gavin Kew, Faculty Operations Manager. Jordan Mitchell-King organised the exhibition of recreative practice in Trinity House Boardroom and Gallery.
We are grateful to Heather Conboy, Faculty E-Learning Coordinator for her work on this website.
